Racetrack Roulette: Explanation and Recommended Games

Last updated: 10.14.2023 by Andrew Shepard

Racetrack is the name of an oval betting section on the roulette table. It gets its name from its shape resembling a horse racing track. There are 37 or 38 numbers in this section, and if we traditionally take 0 as the starting point and move to the right, the sequence of numbers in it is as follows:

0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26

Roulette Race Track

So, what is the purpose of the racetrack section? Like everything else on the table, this section contains outcomes that players can bet on. However, regular bets are placed on numbers listed on the table in a specific order. Racetrack bets, on the other hand, are designed for the wheel, not the table: each corresponds to a specific section on the roulette wheel. Roulette with racetrack is mostly found in online roulette and is very rare in land-based casinos.

Roulette Racetrack Bets Explained

There are five types of bets you can place using the roulette race track, also known as "announced" or "called". In other words, the terms “announced bet” or “called bet” mean roulette racetrack bets. We have covered these bet types in detail in a separate guide, but we will simply explain them here too:

  • Voisins du Zero: This bet covers all the following numbers on the racetrack: 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 26, 3, 35, 12, 28, 7, 29, 18, 22. In total, you place 5 split bets, one corner bet, and one basket bet. The payout can be 1-1, 10-1, or 16-1 depending on which of these bets you win. The chance of winning is just over 45%.
  • Orphelins: This bet includes one straight bet (1) and four split bets (6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31, 34). The payout will be 31-1 for straight bets and 13-1 for split bets. The chance to win is 21.6% and the number 17 is used in two different split bets (14 – 17 and 17 – 20).
  • Tiers du Cylinder: This bet covers all the following numbers: 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 23, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36. You place 6 split bets in total and the payout will be 12-1 for each. The chance of winning is just over 32%.
  • Jeu 0: Consists of 3 split bets (0, 3, 12, 15, 32, 35) and a straight bet (26). It offers about a 19% chance of winning and the payout ranges from 32-1 to 14-1 depending on which bet wins. It is a bet that focuses on numbers around 0.
  • Neighbours: You choose a number on the racetrack and place a straight bet. You then place another straight bet on two numbers to the left and right of the number you have chosen. It is a bet with a total of 5 straight bets and has a 13.50% chance of winning. The payout will be 31-1.

Each of these bets includes multiple wagers, so the chip value you choose will be used on multiple sections at the same time and will increase the total bet value. For example, let's say your chip value is 1 unit. If you choose the Neighbours bet, your wager will be 5 units in total, as this bet consists of 5 separate straight bets (1x5).
